Collaboration with the British NGO: World Association of Guides Scouts (WAGGGS)

BACKGROUND

  • WAGGGS is a worldwide association with headquarters in London. It has world centers located in Mexico, Switzerland, India, Africa and the United Kingdom, with the United Kingdom offices being the "headquarters" of this civil association.

  • WAGGGS' goal is to help girls and young women develop their full potential as leaders and active citizens of the world and they do this through various global initiatives.

BRIEF

  • Within the association there is an initiative called Free Being Me, which is done in conjunction with the Dove Self Esteem Project.

  • Free Being Me aims to educate and empower girls through improving their body confidence and self-esteem. They do this through an educational and training program for women and girls participating in WAGGGS globally.

  • My request was to collaborate with the UK office to help illustrate and design a series of work and educational books to implement in the Free Being Me initiative.

WORK:

  • My work consisted of the editorial design and illustration of 6 workbooks of approximately 40 to 60 pages each, written by specialists in body positive issues.

  • This work was done in conjunction with another illustrator named Soofyia. Between the two of us we made the design of characters, stickers, illustrated elements, layouts and editorial design of the books.

  • This was a very challenging and enriching experience, since it was the first time that I collaborated with another illustrator, which had a very positive result throughout the project (I love doing teamwork).

  • Another great experience was collaborating with the writers and specialists involved in this great initiative. I am proud to have been part of this project.
